CAPITOL WATCH

M. Scott Carter

M. Scott Carter reports on politics, legislation and other issues from the State Capitol.

Close to 8,000 school teachers, parents and students from across the state came to the State Capitol Monday to urge the Oklahoma Legislature to increase education funding. The rally, the second in two years, lasted about two hours and featured speech from key lawmakers and state Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister. Lawmakers, facing a $611.3 million budget hole, have until the end of May to finalize the fiscal year 2016 budget.
